In this study, we shall start with a brief introduction of the ideal of Multiculturalism, followed by an excursion into the development from Ethnic Studies to Multicultural Education, and an examination of the connection between Multicultural Education and Indigenous Education. Secondly, we will look into the promotion of education of Indigenous Peoples in Taiwan and Indigenous Education. Thirdly, we will investigate how higher education has practiced the goal of Multiculturalism as Dean of the College of Indigenous Studies at the National Dong Hwa University from 2008 to 2011. Fourthly, we will portray how the college is caught in the middle between the indifferent Ministry of Education and the incompetent Council of Indigenous Peoples. Before we come to the conclusions, we will show how Multiculturalism may be carried out by taking the example of the Institute of Indigenous Development and the Department of Indigenous Development and Social Work at the National Dong Hwa University.
