「我想選擇死,可以嗎?」-從患病者的角度論身體神學

Towards a Theology of Body: A Patient's Perspective

並列摘要

This paper is to argue that the Christian faith has to provide a serious theological reflection on the human body in order that it can answer the quest of patients. For patients and their carers, a sound theology of body is urgently required. Nevertheless, the traditional Christian theology either ignores or distorts the significance of human body in Christian anthropology. This paper is to suggest that christology provides us with a starting point to reflect on what the body is, and what the ontological significance of body is. The incarnation of God and Jesus' earthly life, especially, the crucified body, would be drawn into this discussion. It suggests that body is neither an instrument nor something secondary, but rather it is central for us to be humans, and also, body becomes an important part of God (although we know that the human body is temporal). Without the body, humans do not exist at all. Only if we take the human body in earnest, do we know how to take care of those who are terminally ill, and face death courageously.
