This paper concerns the relationship between individualism and Christianity. First of all, I describe in brief the value orientation and core ideas of western individualistic Christianity. And I point out the problem when this value system is used to understand Christianity in the non-western context. Then, based on the empirical data from fieldwork, I depict a Chinese case of non-individualistic Christianity, in which there is no value system of individualism, and the relationship between individual and God is not the axis of belief. Instead, their belief is established around the church with a collective way. Finally, I explain this phenomenon based on the social and cultural context of Chinese society and the arguments about Chinese religion. It sheds some light on relevant issues.
