Heideröslein: The Turbulent Entanglement between the Reader and the Text

摘要


蘿莉塔的老書評重新登場、好萊塢性侵事件浮出檯面、馬克.吐溫的少女收藏癖再成焦點、大都會博物館的巴爾蒂斯畫作引爆爭議、澳洲歌手Sia與天才少女舞者的曖昧拉鋸……。翻開自2017年底起的一連串的相關新聞事件簿,「兒童」成為這些事件的交集,我試圖拉出時間軸,並且打亂時間軸,讓新聞事件並陳,看見人們觀看兒童的方式多麼相同,多麼不同;標準多麼一致,又多麼錯亂。我關注的並不是事件引發的不安與爭議,我想要透過「報導」這些報導,凸顯媒體如何觀看兒童與文學(或者藝術創作),藉著重新觀看這些不安與爭議,思考它們在「當時」與「現在」不斷重複出現或者被提出的原因。順著這樣的理路前進,我畢竟碰觸到做為一個兒童文學的讀者、研究者必然要面對的問題:文學評論之為物。我選擇以「野玫瑰」這首歌曲切入,並以京極夏彥的《書樓弔堂》為討論文本,探討閱讀、詮釋與評論三者的關係。如果「摘」下玫瑰做為一種批評,那麼重新「栽」下玫瑰便是一種創造,這種創造不只是為了要發現男孩的激情與玫瑰的曖昧,更是要讓激情與曖昧可以被想像、被理解。我琢磨自己的思緒,我認為自己想要說的應該是:文學批評做為一種創造,甚至是一種意義的召喚或建立。

Certain news events occurred in succession at the end of 2017, such as: * A 1958 review of Nabokov's Lolita was posted online under the title: The New York Times: "Lolita is disgusting." * A petition called for Metropolitan Museum of Art to replace Therese Dreaming by Balthus. * Sia, the artist again sparked controversy about her creative partnership with the 15-year-old dance prodigy, Ziegler. * An article "Mark Twain's Disturbing Passion for Collecting Young Girls" was posted online by The Pairs Review. Not to mention the #MeToo hashtag has spread virally on social media and later developed as an international movement. If we examine these events closely, it won't be difficult to notice that all these stories have something to do with children, literally speaking. I try to report these events in time order as objectively as possible. By doing so, I would like to display how the media sees children and literature/artworks, and how contradictory and paradoxical the observation can be. I always consider that thinking about thinking is the beginning of criticism. In the second part of the essay, I would examine my way of thinking and discuss the relationship between the reader, the writer, and the text. Goethe's poem "Heidenröslein" ("Rose on the Heath") and Japanese mystery writer, Natsuhiko Kyogoku's "A Book Store Named Grave Yard" would be analyzed as my chosen texts. I would suggest that literary criticism is an act of creation, a yearning and calling of meaning, even.
