Nowadays the translated children's books have been playing an important role in book's market in Taiwan. Those books are no more mainly introducing from USA or Japan. Amount of children's books translated from Europe or other countries keeps increasing. This is to help children and young adults to develop a wider view to the world. Due to lacking of people's resource for languages, books have been translated mostly from English or Japanese. The result is so called "indirect translation," which means the original text will be translated from "other translation" (English or Japanese) into Chinese. This problem is also to be found in children's books. Will the content of "indirect translation" be equivalent to the content of original text? Or will it cause misunderstanding between the readers and the real world shown in original text? And how is the reviewer's role while examining an "indirect translation"? The following work tries to answer above related questions based on my own experience of reviewing an "indirect translated" children's book.
