1984～2000兒童圖畫書在台灣的論述內涵、發展與轉變

摘要

台灣自光復以降的兒童文學發展，從八○年代後半期以降至公元兩千年，本地自製及翻譯之兒童圖畫書在台灣所經營出的繁茂景象，不僅是此文類在這五十五年來發展最蓬勃的時期，同時也是台灣的兒童文學在發展上臻至主要文類俱現的新階段。原因與這段期間內本地出版界先後推動數項與兒童圖畫書相關的大規模計畫、成立圖畫書創作獎項、童書專門書店成立、民間與官方機構協助讓中外圖畫書或原畫作品交流機會增加、學術界參與、民間社團投入、乃至國內教育政策轉變等諸多台灣的社會、文化藝術、市場經濟、甚至政策脈絡均有關涉與牽連，本文參考英美圖畫書自七○年代已降的論述方向與內涵用以耙梳對照。文中歸納本地兒童圖畫書在八○年代後半主要視為經歷親子教養、兒童美術、與兒童遊戲的素材與媒介；九○至九七年間國內書店所增闢的童書區帶動了圖畫書的消費與閱讀、兒童圖畫書突破貴族階層的消費侷限、國內對漫畫及圖文書文類的肯定連帶凸顯圖像閱讀、國內平面主要媒體開始出現圖畫書書評。至於九○年代最後四年，兒童圖畫書則與教學、藝術教育、兒童閱讀結合、英美圖畫書論述開始引進、而圖畫書創作者的地位也顯著提升。

The development of children's literature in Taiwan from the second half of the 80s till the year 2000 has seen its golden age, with the booming of the picturebooks either made by local Taiwanese writers and illustrators or translated from other languages. This essay traces the development and looks into a number of social, economic, and cultural factors that contribute to the thriving of the picturebook category during this period, such as the large-scale promotional campaigns launched by local publishers, the establishment of picturebook awards, the division of picturebook section in major chain bookstores, the exhibitions of picturebook illustration sponsored by government, the acknowledgement of picturebook genre in academia, and the emphasis on reading and English learning in education policy.
