Looking at the Constructed Aboriginal Culture Represented in the Two Life Story Picturebooks: Granduncle and Story Map

This paper aims to investigate the aboriginal culture represented in the two life story picturebooks 「Granduncle 」 and 「Story Map」 based on the interrelationship between the concepts of 「image」 and 「looking」 In this sense, picturebooks are considered as a type of image-text. The picturebooks are two of the set of picturebooks named Taiwanese Teenagers, published in 2003 by Youn-Liu Publishing. They were written by two aboriginal writers and illustrated by two Han illustrators. From the notion of ' looking J the researcher was concerned about the following assumptions: , image J as a series of codes, 'childhood J as a socially constructed concept, and 'aborigines J as others from the view of Han people. Based on the above concepts, the researcher intended to examine the representation of the aboriginal culture in the two picturebooks and the implied meanings associated with its social context.
