Ever since Wang Guowei (王國維) pointed out that the poem ＂Cai wei＂ in Xiaoya of the Shijing (詩經．小雅．采薇) was composed during King Xuan of the Zhou Dynasty, generations of scholars have accepted it without debate. The author of this paper begs to differ and holds that the traditional view which dates the poem during King Wen of the Zhou Dynasty is in fact correct.
