並列摘要

The Yungs' Enterprise, one of China's modern large-scale private enterprises, was set up by two brothers - Yung Tsung-chin (1873-1938); and Yung Teh-sheng (1875-1952). Its main business was in flour-milling and cotton-spinning. These included Mow Sing, Foh Sing Flour Mills, Sung Sing Cotton Mills and part of their subsidiary enterprises. Besides running their business, the Yung brothers also laid emphasis on education. They set up, from 1906, many schools in Wusih, Hankow and Shanghai, with the aim of improving local education. Among them were Kung-yi Primary School Nos. 1-4, Jing-hua Girls' Primary School Nos. 1-4, Shanghai Sung Sing Labors' Primary School; Wusih Sung Sing Labors' Primary School, Hankow Labors' Amataur School, Labors' Morning & Evening Schools, Staffs' Training Institute, Mechanists' Training Class, Women Worker's Training Class, Workers' Short-term Training Class, Kung-yi Industrial & Commercial School, Chinese Textitle & Dyeing Industrial School, China's Textitle, Dyeing & Engineering College, Jiang-nan University and Kung-yi Industrial & Commercial Institute and so on. They encouraged education for girls and career educaiton, and they even devoted their efforts on research work and published research reportes & journals. It was unique among other enterprises. Yung brothers were businessmen. They have not had the opportunity of receiving, formal education, but their investments certainly have made lots of handsome returns. Unlike Chang chien (1853-1926), who was a scholar-gentry, the Yung borthers were sucessful in business and they have not neglected the importance of local education. The contributions of the Yung brothers, when compared with Chang Chien, was really tremendous.
