The purpose of this article is to discuss the application of the ideals and the practices of the discipline-based arts education (DBAE) discipline art(s) education to the college PE dance curriculum of Taiwan. For this article, the author suggests that both theory and practice as well as both health promotion and enhancement of artistic quality should be given more consideration to college PE dance courses. In addition to the practices, besides focusing on fitness, health, and leisure functions, a dance teaching model that includes the four dance teaching fields: Dance technique, creative dance, dance performance, and dance aesthetic appreciation should be taken into account in the design of college PE dance course teaching plan. Moreover, through the knowledge, participating, performing, and appreciation of dance learning ideals, it is expected that holistic dance educational purposes will be carried out in the college dance curriculum.
