陶詩「心遠」義探微－兼論陶潛之隱逸思想
On the Subtle Meaning of t he Notion of hsin yüan Together with the Concept of the Life of the Recluse in T'ao Ch'ien's Poems

The fifth of T'ao Ch'ien's ＂Yin chiu 飲酒＂ poems is celebrated over the centuries, and the line ＂hsin yuan ti tzu p'ien 心遠地自偏＂ forms the core of its meaning. The present article is a fresh commentary on the poem, paying particular attention to the meaning of the expression hsin yüan. The discussion is extended to cover the expressions yüan ch'ing 遠情, yao ch'ing 遙情 in other T'ao's poems, and yu ch'ing 遊情 in Chuang tzu 莊子 as well. The character chien 見 in the line ＂Yu jan chien nan shan 悠然見南山＂ has a variant reading wang 望 while for the character chung 中 in the ＂tz'u chung yu chen yi 此中有真意＂, there are versions in which the reading is huan 還. On the basis of these variant readings, the author discusses T'ao's concept of the life of the recluse.
