何楷的《詩經世本古義》

On He Kai's Shijing Shiben Guyi

並列摘要

The importance of He Kai's Shijing shiben guyi has never been fully recognized in the years since its publication in the late Ming. Critics abound who find He's rearrangement of the sequence of the songs disruptive, and his interpretations of individual songs arbitrary and far-fetched. In fact, He's refusal to follow slavishly the conventional interpretation of the Shijing has opened up possibilities in the reading of the canonical text to subsequent generations of scholars, notably to the Qing exegetists who were inclined to produce alternative approaches as well as to the sceptics around the time of the May Fourth Movement early this century who challenged classical orthodoxy with a vengeance. This paper seeks to see the Shijing shiben guyi in perspective by a detailed examination of its various arguments and by an attempt to investigate the bases of He Kai's Shijing scholarship.
