「蘇子作詩如見畫」從杜甫和蘇軾的馬詩看南宋詩風

An Examination of the Poetic Styles of the Tang and Song Dynasties Through an Analysis of Poems Concerning Horses by Du Fu and Su Shi

並列摘要

The differences in poetic styles of the Tang and Song dynasties have been documented according to category since the Southern Song. To modern critic, literary style is useful for classification rather than for evaluation. However, traditional scholars tended to argue about the merits of each style, and judgments were made on the basis of individual preferences. This conflicts with the scholarly pursuit of today. A more desirable approach is to trace the background as well as the formation of these styles, and try to identify the significance of the differences. This paper is an attempt at investigating the poems concerning horses with examples taken from Du Fu of the Tang and Su Shi of the Song. Du and Su are looked upon as the foremost poets of the two periods, and it is generally agreed that they represent the styles of their times. It is hoped that a careful comparison and analysis would enhance our understanding of the creativity of the two poets as well as the unique poetic characteristics of the two dynasties.
