明遺民查繼佐(1601-1676)晚年生活之研究

A Research on the Later Life of the Ming Loyalist Zha Jizuo

並列摘要

This is a study about the Ming loyalist (yimin遺民) Zha Jizuo and his later life in the early Oing dynasty. Instead of committing suicide, many Ming yimin still survived with the anguish of losing their country and suffered the humilating feelings of being ruled by "barbarians" Many of these semi-secluded scholars kept a close relationship with the Qing officials (who were former Ming officials then held positions at the Qing court). With such relationship, Zha Jizuo's school was re-built, his writings were prinied, his daily life was also supported by the Qing officials. Moreover, he did not prevent his son and nephew from participating in the official examinations held by the Oing government. Did these activities conflict with his doctrine of maintaining loyalty to the Ming dynasty? This paper shows how the Ming yimin tried to maintain close relationship with the Qing officials so that Han culture could be preserved under "foreign" rule; their efforts demonstrated that they professed loyalty to the Ming dynasty as well as the Han Chinese culture.
