晉侯蘇鐘銘在巡狩制度、西周曆法、王年與歷史地理研究上指迷與發覆

The Value of the Su Bronze Bell's Inscription in the Study of the Tour Inspection System, Calendric System, Reign of the Emperor, and Historical Geography of the Western Zhou Dynasty

並列摘要

The Su Bronze Bell of Marquis Jin is one of the most valuable bronze wares of the Western Zhou dynasty. This article is aimed at uncovering three truths and stressing its value. The key points are as follows. (1) The inscription gave a full description the Emperor's tour inspection of the eastern and southern parts of the country. (2) The inscription had told about the war on Suyi夙夷 and given the route of Western Zhou's military operation. This is very helpful to the research of historical geography (3) The most valuable discovery is on Western Zhou's calendric system. Four terms of the phase of the moon of a month have repudiated Wang Guowei's 王國維 hypothesis of the "four-division of the month" (四分一月說).The inscription has proved that the calendar of Western Zhou had used five (not four) terms of the phase of the moon, and the basis of the calendar should be six terms of the phase of the moon put together. (4) The inscription can be used to test various hypotheses of the research on Western Zhou history, since all the hypotheses formerly proposed which were based on four terms of the moon are proved to be wrong. (5) It can be ascertained that the 33rd year of the Emperor's reign is 794 B.C.
