Study on the Razorfishes Genus Xyrichtys (Labridae) of Taiwan

臺灣近海産虹彩鯛之研究

摘要

Twelve species of razorfishes found in the surrounding waters of Taiwan and its adjacent islands are reported in this paper. They are: Xyrichtys verrens, X. pavo, X. pentadactylus, X. dea, X. twistii, X. woodi, X. evides, X. aneitensis, X. melanopus, X. taeniurus, X. sp.1 and X. sp.2. Among them, X. woodi is new record and the last two species are unable to determine at the moment. Key to species, color illustrations, sexual dimorphisms and meristic counts of each species are given.

臺灣近海産虹彩鯛之研究中，共發現有十二種，分別為薔薇虹彩鯛（Xyrichtys verrens），巴父虹彩鯛（X. pavo），五指虹彩鯛（X. pentadactylus），紅虹彩鯛（X. dea），雙斑虹彩鯛（X. twistii），伍氏虹彩鯛（X. woodi），麗虹彩鯛（X. evides），離鰭虹彩鯛（X. aneitensis），大鱗虹彩鯛（X. melanopus），帶尾虹彩鯛（X. Taeniurus），X. sp.1，X. sp.2，其中之一種為新記錄，最後二種則尚存疑。本文除提供種之檢索及每種之簡短描述外，並以彩色圖片顯示其活魚原色及雌雄別以及每種之形態測定和計數。
