摘要

A dermatoglyphic study in 626 palms of the Kappan group of the Atayal tribe (one of the Formosan aborigines) is made, and the results are as follows. The frequency is presented by per cent with the standard error. 1) Triradii metacarpophalangeales a. The exponents of Wilder's hand-formulae: 9 7 5 5 (14.5±1.41), 7 5 5 3 (14.1±1.39). b. Cummins-Midlo's three types: type 7 (43.3±1.98), type 9 (36.7±1.93), type 11 (20.0±1.60). 2) Figura tactilis interdigitalis. a. Triradii interdigitales: 2t (0.0), 3t (0.3±0.22), 4t (6.1±0.96), all t (2.1±0.33). b. Vortex interdigitalis; 0.0. 3) Figura tactilis hypothenari: Ha (10.2±1.21), Hb (2-2±0.59), Hc (0.2±0.18), Hcarp (0.5±0.28), Hs (0.3±0.22), Hw (0.2±0.18), all H (13.6±1.37). 4) Figura tactilis thenari: all Th (8.1±1.09), all I (7.3±1.04). 5) Triradius carpalia: C1(10.2±1.21), C(68.5±1.86), Ch(17.7±1.53), CCh(2.7±0.65) ChCh(0.8±0.35), all Ch (21.2±1.63). 6) Apical finger patterns. a. The exponents of finger pattern formulae: w w w w u(20.0±1.60), w w w w w (18.6±1.56). b. Three types of whorl-combination: W_(0-1) (21.3±1.64), W_(2-3) (32.6±1.88), W_(4-5) (46.1±2.00). c. Finger pattern types (all digits combined): a(0.6±0.14), r (2.8±0.30) u(36.7± 0.86), w(59.8±0.88). d. Sinus duplicatus (percentage to the number of all the whorls): 14.8±0.82. e. Figura tensa (Percentage to the number of all the digits): 9.9±0.53. 7) Significant sex differences are found as follows. Numerals in parentheses are the differences with their standard errors. Representative hand-formulae: 9 7 5 3♂＞♀(8.1±1.88). Hypothenar pattem: au H. ♂＜♀ (9.8±3.01). Carpal triradius: C ♂＞♀ (12.5±3.90). Sinus duplicatus in digit V ♂＞♀ (12.8±3.92). 8) Significant side differences are found as follows. Numerals in parentheses are the differences with their standard errors. Representative hand-formulae: 7551 R＜L (14.1±2.00), 7 5 5 3 R＜L(24.9±2.59), 7 5 5 5 R＞L (14.1±2.21), 9 7 5 3 R＜L (9.6±2.10), 9 7 5 5 R＞L (23.3± 2.66), 11 9 7 5 R＞L (14.1±2.05). Cummins-Midlo's three types: type 7 R＜L (23.4±3.85), type 11R＞L (20.8±3:09). Terminal areas of main-line D: area 7 R＜L(28.7±3.65), area 8 R＞L(6.4±2.02), area 11 R＞L (20.8±3.09). Terminal areas of main-line C: area 5 R＜L(26.5±3.60), area 6 R＞L(6.4±2.02), area 9 R＞L(11.8±2.70), area 10R＞L(3.8±1.08). Terminal areas of main-line B: area 5 R＜L(15.9±3.43), area 7 R＞L(16.6±3.01), area 8 R＞L(3.5±1.12). Terminal areas of main-line A: area 1 R＜L(22.4±2.51), area 3 R＜L(47.6±3.24), area 5 R＞L(68.4±2.91). Figura tactilis thenari: ThI R＜L(7.0±1.94), all Th R＜L(7.9±2.16), all I R＜L (8.3±2.05). Sinus duplicatus: digit V R＜L (15.5±4.84). Figura tensa: digit IV R＞L (8.3±2.76).
