摘要

This paper aims to collect phenomena reflecting Chinese stress accent from historical materials as much as possible, and explore its conditioning factors. The paper contains 8 sections: 1. Theme, 2. Pre-Han Period, 3. Tang Dynasty, 4. Yuan Dynasty, 5. Ming Dynasty, 6. Qing Dynasty, 7. The First Half of the 20^(th) Century, and 8. Comparative Study of Modern Dialects.
