仁禮之間-評楊慶球和温偉耀的宋明理學、心學研究

Tension between Ren and Li: Reviews of the Neo-Confucian Studies of Dr. Wen Wei Yao and Dr. Yang Qing Qiu

並列摘要

How to interpret the Classic works of Confucianism in the contemporary context is a great task facing modern scholars, especially those who are studying on the dialogue between religions or philosophies. Among the works in this area, the books of Dr. Wen Wei Yao (溫偉耀)and Dr. Yang Qing Qiu (楊慶球) made innovative and inspiring attempts from their respective approaches. Reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of the two scholars' methodologies as well as contents, this thesis is putting forward a new perspective to interpret the Neo-Confucianism, which is the tension between the two basic ideas of Confucianism, Ren and Li, in seeking for being Holy, the central issue of Neo-Confucianism. This thesis is arguing that the tension between the two ideas is not only the key to understand the conception of being Holy in Confucianism, and the history of development of Neo-Confucianism from Sung to Ming Dynasty, but also the point where Christianity could dialogue with Chinese thoughts.
