Taiwan's Contextual Theology in the Postmodern Context

並列摘要

This article is about the relation between the postmodern condition and Taiwan's contextual theology. At first, the author will describe how the postmodern trend had influenced Taiwan's society directly or indirectly, and point out that although Taiwan is not yet modernized totally, the postmodern condition appears already. Secondly, the author will explore how "incredulity towards meta-narratives", the most prominent characteristic of postmodern according to Lyotard, implies in the theological thinking of Choan-Seng Song. Song's theology of transposition criticizes the centrism of Judeo-Christian history, and his story theology turns from "grand narrative" to "small stories" in theological discourses. Both of theology of transposition and story theology developed in Song's theological thinking are consistent to the spirit of postmodernity. At last of this article, the author will attempt to explore the possibility of developing a theological hermeneutics based on story theology in the postmodern context.
