探究老莊學說要義之華人當代設計方法應用

Investigation of Contemporary Design Method Applications among Chinese people Regarding the Theoretical Essence of Lao-tzu and Zhuang-zi

摘要


包浩斯設計學院奠定當代設計理論基礎,其創校的時代背景乃德國亟欲在一次世界大戰後能迅速恢復成工業大國,於是開創了實務與理論並重的課程。反觀華人文化並無明確的設計實務與理論的主張,而當代的台灣以出口貿易為經濟主態、從生產代工、設計代工後,產業經濟正面臨時代鉅變,在全球經濟版圖遷移與經濟生態的改變過程中,我們是否洞察先機?台灣是否能藉由設計美力引領台灣走出品牌創造與文化生活的建立呢?本研究意圖從華人文化追本溯源來探究老莊學說找到屬於華人文化觀點的設計方法論述。透過解析老莊學說整理出可供設計參酌的五大要義:(1)抱一;(2)無常之道;(3)無為,無不為;(4)守柔、不爭;(5)離形去知與勝物不傷。本研究依設計之造物分為「物質性」與「非物質性」兩大類,逐一導論出一套設計方法可供為設計依循的準則;「物質性」討論的是材料與質感、色彩與造型、功能與結構,而「非物質性」則討論簡化與簡單、平衡與自然的概念。這些方法指向一種「樸質力」的設計格調,反璞歸真的意涵,尋找到我們華人訴說一種文化美感的共識,進而形成一種感質設計的風格。華人文化所認同產生的原創性設計方法論之理論建構,現在看起來尤為重要。本研究之目的乃期望提供台灣當代設計理論基礎之研究與設計方法的依循或參考,亦或是提供研究者進行品牌設計論述之參考。

Staatliche Bauhaus has set down the foundation for contemporary design theory, and the era background during school establishment is that Germany wants, very much, to recover quickly and turn into an industrial giant after WWI. As a result, it has created a curriculum with a focus on both its practice and theory. In contrast, there is no specific design practice and theoretical assertions in the Chinese culture. As for Taiwan, in the present it focuses on export trade as its primary source of economy. After OEM and ODM production, as viewed, for now its industrial economy is confronted with enormous changes of the times. Therefore, can we perceive any foresight in view of such changing process with a domain shift of global economic and economic ecology? Can Taiwan lead itself to the establishment of brand creation and cultural life through aesthetic sense of design? The purpose of this study would like to trace back to its source and investigate the theory of Lao-tzu and Zhuang-zi so that it can discover the design method of Chinese cultural perspective for discourse. Through theory analysis of Lao-tzu and Zhuang-zi, we can then sort out five major essences for the reference to design: 1. path-abiding; 2. law of inconstancy; 3. inaction, nothing undone; 4. remaining soft, indisputable; 5. understanding achieved with form cast and victory hurts not. The study will base on created things of design, and classify them into two categories: "materialistic" and "non-materialistic." Furthermore, it will, one by one, deduce a set of design method that can be used as criteria for design. Of the category "materialistic," it discusses material and quality, color and profile, function and structure; as for the category of "non-materialistic," it discusses the concepts of simplification and simplicity, balance and being natural. These methods will point to the design style of "simplicity and plainness," and the connotation of "return of innocence," in search to the consensus of cultural beauty recounted by the Chinese people, which will then form into the style of quality design As viewed now, the theoretical establishment of design methodology recognized by the Chinese culture is, especially, important. The purpose of this study is intended to provide the guideline or reference to the research and design method of Taiwan's contemporary design theoretical foundation, or to offer the researchers with references as they carry out discourse on brand design.
