The application of the aesthetic experience in design pedagogy

美學經驗在設計教學的運用

摘要


This article explores the application of the aesthetic experience in design pedagogy in college. The aesthetic experience is a complex issue, which, from micro-perspectives, involves personal experiences and backgrounds, and in macro-perspectives, involves cultural and social values. This research aims to examine the theories of the aesthetic experience and their applications on the teaching and learning experience in a field study in a social design course. In the field, college students used the local resources, and create a learning group as part of their teamwork. The design works present the historical story, life cycle, characteristic industry, village scene, religion and character interview. Through the field observation and aesthetic experience, students re-examined their ideologies about Haka culture, and transformed their experiences into images and design works. The works demonstrate not only the visual qualities but also the insights into human life, and respond to the needs of the real world. We hope to arouse public concerns for the Haka culture, especially its traditional visual culture. This journey drives us not only to reconsider the possibilities of design pedagogy but also to reexamine the idea of aesthetic experience from a new perspective.

本論文探索美學經驗在大學設計教學裡面的運用,美學經驗是個複雜概念,從狹義的角度來說包括個人經驗和背景,從廣義的角度來說,包括社會和文化價值。本研究審視美學經驗的理論和它在設計教學和學習過程中的應用,結合大專院校社會設計課程,進行田野調查,發揮在地優勢,透過團隊的方式營造生活學習圈,透過現場觀察與美學經驗,呈現歷史老故事、走讀生活圈、特色產業、場景、地方信仰或人物專訪,引導學生將課堂上所學的美學與設計知識加以運用,將地方的特色轉化為圖像與設計作品,展現美學品味,以回應現實社會的需求,觸發對社會的關懷。此研究過程不只讓我們重新考慮設計教學的可能性,它還驅使我們從新的角度重新檢驗美學經驗的概念。
