The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the Tablet PC of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) intervention on communication behaviors for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Results were consistent with previous research showing that the use of the Tablet PC with the AAC application could help to develop speech and language skills and promote initiative communication behavior and oral expression for children with ASD. In addition, the Tablet PC with AAC could also be used as Visual scripts, which have been demonstrated to be efficacious in improving independent communication abilities and communication skills for children with ASD.
