This paper examines some of the literature on the stages and influences of teachers' career development. The major purposes of this paper are: 1) Clarify the meaning of "teachers' career development"; 2) Analyze the stages of "teachers' career development"; 3) Identify the main influences of "teachers' career development"; 4) Describe the dynamic nature of teachers career development, and present some future perspectives about teachers' career development. It is convinced that teacher should be motivated to seek continual growth and self-actualization. This study should be of value to both researchers and practitioners concerned with teachers' career development and the improvement of teaching profession.
