呂澂是二十世紀最傑出的佛學家之一。二十世紀五○年代以後，呂澂先生在二十世紀中國佛教的知性向度上持續前行，既未走向自我否定，也未發生思想轉向，為二十一世紀中國佛教的知性實踐奠定了堅實的學術史基礎。

After 1950, Mr. Lü Cheng attained steadfast progress in his study of ＂understanding＂ (verstand) in Chinese Buddhism. He had no doubts or deviations from his original thoughts. Moreover, he established a solid foundation in the academic history of ＂understanding＂ (verstand) in Chinese Buddhism in the twenty-first century.
