Industrial Transfer Policy, Total Factor Productivity: Evidence from Guangdong Province

摘要

In order to avoid endogenous problems and sample selection problems in the calculation of total factor productivity using the OLS method, this article first uses the OP and LP method to calculate the total factor productivity of industrial enterprises above designated size in Guangdong Province from 2002 to 2007. After construction of a panel data of 39 industries in 123 counties in Guangdong Province during year 2002‐2007, Difference in Difference method is applied to explore the effect of industrial transfer policy on the TFP of non‐PRD region. The results show that the TFP of non‐PRD regions has decreased compared with that of PRD regions after the implementation of the industrial transfer policy in Guangdong Province in 2005, and our robustness test further prove the effectiveness of our estimation results.
