A Study on Cultivating Middle School Students' Intercultural Communicative Competence in English Teaching

摘要

In the modern world, the big tide of economic globalization makes international cooperation and cross‐cultural exchanges closer, and at the same time, it also brings more development opportunities and challenges to China. Such opportunities and challenges put forward higher requirements for talent training in China. For the sake of meeting all the new challenges, English teaching must help students improve ICC (Intercultural Communicative Competence). Therefore, one of the importance of cultivating middle school students' ICC is to adapt to the objective requirements of the development of the era. Language and culture are to some extent intertwined, and learners cannot truly acquire a language if they do not understand the culture of the language. Thus, language learning is for getting grips with language knowledge and its cultural connotation to achieve the purpose of communication. Cultural education must rise to a certain height in middle school. Based on the understanding of culture, this paper analyzes the necessities of intercultural teaching, and probes into the methods and approaches to implement intercultural teaching. This is conducive to enhancing teachers' awareness of helping students to develop ICC, and provides some strategic inspiration for teachers in the process of it, which is of great help to enhancing students' intercultural awareness and ICC.
