Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) has become a major treatment option in patients with acute ischemic stroke and causative large vessel occlusions. However, many controversies with regard to blood pressure (BP) control remain. Some studies suggest that poor outcomes following EVT may be correlated with increased BP or increased BP variability. We reviewed 166 recipients of EVT whose vessels have successfully recanalized from 2 Taiwanese medical centers. Post-EVT BP were collected hourly and subdivided into four equal time intervals and their correlation to outcomes were analyzed. We found that BP in the initial 6 hours following EVT was crucial to the final outcome. Our study suggests that stringent control of BP is correlated to better outcomes in patients receiving EVT.
