The Study on Improved Mechanical Properties of Reinforced Traditional Chuan-Dou Timber Joints in Taiwan

傳統穿鬬式木構造接點補強後力學性能之改善研究

摘要


The Chuan-Dou timber structures are one of the most typical architectural styles in Taiwan. They can primarily be found in the historical buildings, traditional temples and even some residences. With the mortised joints, this type of structure provides high ductility and low strength. The dominant mechanical characteristic of these joints is defined by the contact mechanics between wood members. Consequently, the quality of wood as well as erection quality of the joint is highly significant. Most of the historic buildings, the mechanical performance such as joint rigidity and structural stiffness is decreasing due to the material deterioration of wood. In order to conserve these important cultural and architectural properties, the structural performance of buildings is must be emphasized. Due to strict conservation regulations, the restoration methodology of historic buildings is usually requested respecting the original material as well as the authentic appearance. Strengthening technologies have to be developed using efficient manners of reinforcement with modest configurations. This research proposes thus feasible strengthening technologies by simultaneously considering the structural improvement as well as the government's conservation policy. Several types of traditional joints reinforced by different approaches are designed and tested in full-scale experiments. Both the stiffness amelioration and different failure modes of joints are compared. Both efficiency and feasibility of the strengthening technologies are analyzed and discussed.

並列摘要


穿鬬式木構造為台灣最典型的傳統房屋構造形式之一,在許多歷史性的建築、廟宇與民居等尤為普遍。由於此類建築以「穿」為原則的接點方式構成,造成結構體本身具備了高韌性與低強度的特性,而其中木材之間的接觸行為就成為主宰力學行為的主要因子,也因此木構材本身的品質與施工營造的精確度便明顯的影響了結構的行為。事實上,在為數眾多的歷史建築與古蹟案例當中可以發現,接點的勁度與強度往往就是由於木材材質的劣化而衰減,因此在保存相關重要文化資產的同時,應該注重此類建築的結構行為。另一方面,為了符合文化資產保存法令的要求,歷史建築與古蹟的修復工作應顧及原有材料與形貌的完整性,因此,有必要發展出有效但審慎低調的補強技術與方式。本研究就是針對上述的考量之下,建議出可行又同時符合法規原則的補強技術,本研究最終提出不同的補強方法,並以足尺實驗的方式驗證其性能,除了對不同的結構接點勁度與破壞模式作比較之外,不同方式的補強效率與可行性也在討論與分析之列。
