Qingshigao Yiwenzhi and Baqianjuanlou Shumu were bibliographical catalogues of Qing Dynasty novels. These catalogues are closely related. This paper is a comparative study of classical language novels of the Qing Dynasty as recorded in Qingshigao Yiwenzhi and Baqianjuanlou Shumu. Baqianjuanlou Shumu is a catalogue of 151 classical language novels, while Qingshigao Yiwenzhi includes 35 of the list in Baqianjuanlou Shumu. Both then display discrepancies on the categorization of published materials. This paper will examine the reasons behind these discrepancies.
