During the Anti-Japanese War, there had been an ideological trend of "returning to tradition" in Chinese intellectual circles. In addition, there was practical need to improve the social customs and alleviate education problems, which had given birth to the thoughts of Six Arts education, with the characteristic of "being ancient but still active". The thoughts of Six Arts education in wartime included education of national salvation, education of national founding and military education, which became active ideological resources. The Kuomintang authority subsumed the Six Arts education into the education system in wartime. Furthermore, the public also had actively participated in related practical activities and theoretical reflection. The occurrence and disappearance of the thoughts of Six Arts education during the anti-Japanese War revealed the ancient and modern linkage in the process of cultural development. This cultural phenomenon could provide the valuable experience and historical intelligence for the current and future cultural construction.
