On the Cultural Opportunity for the Contemporary Chinese School of Translation Studies from Liang Shuming's Perspective of Culture Prematurity

摘要

梁漱溟的文化早熟論指出，中國文化（注：梁漱溟所謂的中國文化主要指中國傳統文化）。過早地從「向外用力」的身文化躍遷至「向內用力」的心文化，故心文化發達而身文化不足，由此陷入早熟之境地。從此視角出發，則可發現當前翻譯學中國學派（簡稱中國學派）的文化機遇。在當前時代，中國學派能夠充分發揚中國傳統文化的心文化優勢，以終極性的心性紐帶抵消西方譯學帶來的碎片化風險；與此同時，現有的譯學成果又為中國學派夯實了身文化基礎，使之無虞後者之缺失。於是通過揚心文化之長，避身文化之短，本為「早熟」的中國傳統文化變為「適熟」，為當前的中國學派帶來適逢其時的文化機遇。中國譯學界有理由把握這一時代契機，為推動譯學發展、增強民族文化自信做出進一步的貢獻。

The theory of culture prematurity by the renowned Neo-Confucianist Liang Shuming indicates prematurity of Chinese culture is revealed in the imbalance between the out-oriented physical culture and the in-oriented mental culture, as a consequence of China's over-early leap from the former to the latter. This perspective enables a view of cultural opportunity for the Chinese School of Translation Studies (CSTS). At the current time CSTS boasts its inherent advantageous mental culture and therefore, by identifying an ultimately sharable mental link, solves the fragmenting-developmental risk from Western translation theories. Simultaneously with the solid physical culture of available translation studies, CSTS is distanced from insufficient physical concern. In this manner the ＂premature＂ traditional Chinese culture, with its amplified mental advantage and remedied physical disadvantage, becomes a ＂punctual＂ one and as a result enables a cultural opportunity for the contemporary CSTS. It is reasonable for Chinese scholars to seize the opportunity for further improvement of translation studies and enhancement of their national pride.
