對照淨土立宗史，看當代人間淨土的應然特色

摘要

在重今世、重此岸、直面人生的中國文化氛圍中成長起來的中國淨土宗，天然地攜帶著凡夫得報、當世成就、心淨往生等濃重「人間」氣息的「遺傳因子」，直接造就了當代人間淨土的特色——這是本文所謂「應然」特色的歷史繼承部分。人間淨土畢竟是現代文化的產物，故必然地應當帶有鮮明的時代特色。本文介紹了新加坡佛教總會佛教施診所和光明山普覺禪寺88環保站兩個範例，以期從中得到啟發——窺得本文所謂「應然」特色之深層的本質特徵。

Born and developed in the cultural environment that emphasises this birth, this shore and this life, the Chinese Pure Land School is naturally inherited such humanistic features as meritorious rewards for the unenlightened people, accomplishing enlightenment in this life, and rebirth in the [Western Pure Land] with purified mind and so forth, which form the characteristics of modern Humanistic Pure Land Teaching-this is what the present author called inherited-features which came from its history. Humanistic Pure Land Teaching, in effect, is a product of modern culture, thus it naturally comes with characteristics of its time. This paper introduces the Free Buddhist Clinic funded by Singaporean Buddhist Federation and the 88 Recycle Point established in Kong Meng San Pork See Monastery, through which the exact meaning of the suggested inherited-features could become clear.
