星雲大師與趙樸初居士

星雲大師與趙樸老在交往中互放的光亮卻照亮了中國佛教未來發展的方向。二人在泰國的初次相見，為此後的深入交往奠定了良好的基礎。趙樸老瞭解到星雲大師強烈的思鄉之情後，以中國佛教協會的名義，向星雲大師發出了熱情的邀請，成就了星雲大師多次蒞臨大陸的殊勝因緣，將兩岸佛教的交流推向了高潮，趙樸老由此成為星雲大師在大陸的大護法。二人相遇於晚年，然而能一見傾心，其基礎就在於二人對中國佛教共同具有非常深厚的情感，共同抱有建設人間淨土、利樂有情眾生的悲心大願，因此比較容易引起情感和思想上的共鳴。趙樸老入滅的訃聞傳來，星雲大師極為悲痛，寫下了「人天眼滅」的悼詞，對趙樸老給予了很高的評價。星雲大師與趙樸老的交往作為兩岸民間交往的重要組成部分，對於促進海峽兩岸之間的「三通」及和平等做出了不可磨滅的歷史貢獻。星雲大師與趙樸初居士開創的兩岸佛教界的交流和交往局面，將在未來得到忠實的繼承和進一步的發展。

The light of friendship between Master Xingyun and Mr. Zhao Puchu lights up the direction for the future of Chinese Buddhism. They first met in Thailand, that was a good start for their future communications. After learned that the Master had a strong feeling for his hometown, Mr. Zhao on behalf of the Association of Chinese Buddhism cordially invited him to pay the Mainland a visit, which led to a climax of exchanging activities of the Buddhist communities across the straights followed by his many other times of visits. Mr. Zhao thus became the major supporter in the Mainland for the Master. They met when neither of them were young, yet they liked each other at first sight. That was because that they both had a deep affection about Chinese Buddhism, and a common aspiration for building a Humanistic Pure Land and for serving other beings. When the news about the death of Mr.Zhao reached the Master, he was saddened profoundly and wrote down this phrase, ＂Disappearance of the Eyes of the Human and Heaven＂, speaking highly of his friend. The friendship between the Master and Mr.zhao contributed to a great deal to the communication between the peoples of the Taiwan and the Mainland, it helped the peace and the Three Links of the two straights in a major significant way. It may be inherited and furthered by future generations.
