普應國師中峰明本對淨土文化的影響

摘要

淨土宗和禪宗在中國佛教中佔有重要地位，對中國漢傳佛教有深遠影響。禪淨一致、禪淨結合思想源遠流長，弘揚淨土思想的禪師，在永明延壽大師之外，元代著名禪師、臨濟宗第十九世祖師、普應國師中峰明本也心向淨土，具有深厚的淨土思想。這是淨土思想普遍流行的反映，也因中峰明本在佛教僧俗兩界的巨大影響而客觀上大力弘揚了淨土法門，故此中峰明本被視為弘揚淨土的代表性高僧之一。近代以來，逐步形成淨宗十三祖，皆是弘揚淨土思想的高僧大德；清代曾有人打算「引中峰（中峰明本）、楚石（梵琦楚石）及師（雲棲大師），例七祖而增為十祖」，要列中峰明本為淨土宗第八代祖師，這是他對淨土宗深遠影響的體現。

The Pure Land School and the Meditation School ocupied important places in Chinese Buddhism, they both had a pround impact on Chinese Buddhism. The trends of equating and combining the Meditation and the Pure Land can be traced back long ago, among those meditation masters who promote the pure land apart from master Yongming Yanshou was Zhongfeng Mingben, the famous meditation master of the Yuan dynasty, the nineteenth patriarch of the Linji lineage of the Meditation School as well as the national preceptor Puying. He inclined the Pure Land practice and had a deep thought on it. This is a reflection of the popularity of the Pure Land. It was also because of his promoting of the Pure Land in both the Sangha and the lay communities that he was regarded as one of the eminent monks who propagated the Pure Land. Since early Republic Period, there formed thirteen patriarchs of the Pure Land School, they all promoted the school. In the Qing dynasty, Zhongfeng Mingben once almost made the eighth patriarch of the school, which shows just how great his influence was in the tradition.
