文教作方便，示教以利喜－論星雲大師人間佛教理念在馬來西亞的傳播與開展
The Spread and Promotion of Master Hsing Yun's Humanistic Buddhism in Malaysia From The Aspect of Culture and Education
摘要
本文主要從「佛光山人間佛教理念下的文教事業」以及「馬來西亞佛光山文教事業發展概況」兩方面作為論述進路，繼而關注幾個問題：一、佛光山為何重視文教事業發展，以至於不惜投入大量的資源？二、在星雲大師人間佛教理念下，如何致力於推動文教事業的發展？三、佛光山文教事業對人間佛教理念的傳播，究竟扮演者何等重要的因素？四，以馬來西亞佛光山為例，其推動文教事業的情況及所取得的成果如何？本文深信，透過對上述幾個問題的研究及探討，即可一窺佛光山推展文教事業的動機、方法及其在域外推行文教工作的特色與發展情況。如果說推動文教事業是佛光山傳播人間佛教理念的「方便」；那麼，其文教事業所帶來的人文關懷，即可實現促進社會和諧、淨化人心，建設人間淨土的目標，而這即是大乘佛教向來所重視的「示教利喜」！

This article discusses the cultural and educational undertakings from two aspects, the Humanistic Buddhism of Fo Guang Shan and Fo Guang Shan in Malaysia. These two approaches bring along few issues. Firstly, why Fo Guang Shan emphasize on the cultural and educational undertakings and put in lots of resources to the development of cultural and educational undertakings. Secondly, how does the development of cultural and educational undertakings being promoted under Master Hsing Yun's concept on Humanistic Buddhism. Thirdly, the importance role of cultural and educational undertakings in the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism. Fourthly, as case study of Fo Guang Shan in Malaysia, how's the condition and achievement in the promotion of cultural and educational undertakings. Through the study and discussion of the above issues, the motives and methods in promoting cultural and educational undertakings by Fo Guang Shan can be known better. Besides that, the characteristic and the condition of development of cultural and educational undertakings in abroad can be determined as well. If the promotion of cultural and educational undertakings is the skillful mean in the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism by Fo Guang Shan, the humanistic concern that brought along, will be the goal in promoting social harmony, purification of mind and establishment of pure land in this world. This is aligned with the teaching in Mahayana Buddhism which emphasize on ＂explain the teaching to bring benefit and joy＂.
