Effects of Carbonator Design and Calcination Condition on the Carbon Capture Performance in a 500kWt Calcium Looping Carbon Capture Process

摘要


本研究測試500kWt鈣迴路系統中,挾帶床式與多階旋風式碳酸化系統對全系統運轉穩定性及二氧化碳捕獲之影響;並以測試結果為依據,釐清操作條件對煅燒系統穩定性及吸附劑再生特性之影響。實驗結果顯示:挾帶床碳酸化系統雖可達到粉體循環之目的,但挾帶床碳酸化系統碳酸化反應放熱不顯著,使反應器內溫度低於碳酸化最佳溫度(500-650℃)。旋風塔碳酸化系統可維持較高溫度有助於進行碳酸化反應。於測試期間可連續運轉52.1小時捕獲二氧化碳且捕碳效率約43%;若調整柴油使用量及迴流風車轉速,會改變煅燒系統內之輸入熱量、溫度分布及煙氣體積流率,進而影響煅燒效率、粉體輸送效率及粉體分離效率。透過操作參數調整,可再生出高反應特性之吸附劑,有助於二氧化碳捕獲反應。

The aim of this study is to investigate effects of carbonator designs and calcination conditions on the system stability and carbon capture efficiency in a 500 kWt calcium looping carbon capture system. Experimental results indicated that the heat transfer in the entrained-bed carbonator was insufficient, leading to the flue gas temperature did not achieve the optimal carbonation temperature. 43% carbon capture efficiency for 52.1 hours was achieved in the cascade cyclone carbonator because the elevated temperature inside reactor accelerated the carbonation rate. The amount of input thermal energy and flue gas recirculation rate significantly affected the temperature profile and heat transfer phenomena inside calciner, as well as altering sorbent calcination efficiency, and solid transportation and separation efficiencies. The sorbents with no surface sintering and calcination efficiencies higher than 85% were achieved for experiments conducted under suitable conditions in this study.
