The satellite development in Taiwan is being regarded as an important program for the National Science Council. The Council has cooperated with the Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research located at the National Central University to establish the ground-reception station for data acquisition from resources satellites which can be delivered to various agencies for practical applications. However, due to the satellite imagery has not been utilized popularilly in Taiwan, this report first briefly introduces the ongoing operation of the ground-reception station in Taiwan, then briefly describes the integration of satellite imagery with geographic information system (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) for natural resources assessment. Finally, the author makes several recommendations to the proper authoritise in Taiwan on establishing the policy of satellite imagery utilization and the program of personnel training.
