The nine extant Chinese translations of the "Prajnaparamita Hrdaya Sutra" are here studied comparatively against the Sanskrit original and the Tibetan version which played a role in the translation of the sutra into Chinese. Topics of the 11 sections of the article include: Title of the sutra; The name "Avolokitesvara"; Old and new translations of "panca skandha"; Rendition of the clause about the conveyance through all sufferings and passes; Grammar of the sentence beginning with Bodhisattva; The passage stating that prajnaparamita is a dharani spell.
