植物特徵應用於文字造形系統性簡化之初探

An Exploratory Research on the Application of Botanical Features to the Systematic Simplification of Typography

摘要


文字是記錄語言與傳遞訊息的符號,最初始的文字起源於圖畫,是以人的視覺意象作為出發點,以「象形」的方式對身邊的事物進行描繪。圖像與文字之間的關係曾經緊密相連,但文字的形體結構隨著時間與環境的改變,不斷簡化「象形」的特色筆畫,使得現今文字多難以看出其原先圖畫的形態,僅能從字形或形旁窺知一二,而現今要將複雜的圖像與現代文字形態兩者進行結合,需要透過一致性的簡化以達到統一。本研究運用網格簡化法將圖像與文字造形重新結合,以系統性的方式進行簡化測試,測試後得到以下幾項結果:1.簡化後之圖像文字填滿效果的面化處理較難辨識內部圖像細節,僅能辨識外觀文字。2.以網格簡化法之規則進行得出之錨點可再進行適度減少,以利於後續文字造形的調整。3.將圖像文字造形簡化後,確認網格簡化法的方式可執行,後續將繼續運用於創作之中。

Characters are symbols for recording language and conveying messages. The earliest characters originated from images, using human visual imagery as a starting point to depict things around us in a "pictographic" manner. The relationship between image and character was once closely linked, but the structure of the character has changed over time and with the environment. The constant simplification of the characteristic "pictographic" strokes has made it difficult to distinguish the original image from the present characters, which can only be inferred by the shape or parts of the characters. Nowadays, the combination of complex images and modern character appearance requires a consistent simplification in order to achieve unity. In this study, we used the Grid-simplification method to reunite the image and the character modeling in a systematic way to perform the simplification test, and the following results were obtained. 1. After space-filling, which turns lines into planes, the simplified characters make it difficult to observe the internal details, with only the external frame of the characters can be recognized. 2. The anchor points derived from the rules of the Grid-simplification method can be reduced appropriately in order to make subsequent adjustments of the character modeling. 3. After simplifying the character modeling, we confirmed that the Grid-simplification method can be implemented, and we will continue to use it in the process of design.
