Along with the transformation of the socioeconomic structure, the rapid development of the industrial and economic societies of the 1900’s led to the tremendous growth of cities and urban renewal. The standard of living improved with modern conveniences. However, the rapid growth and development of the high tech industry have also led to the deterioration of the ecosystem, increase in waste products, and shortage of natural resources. So, land that has lost its original utility due to the industrial transformation is gradually turning into waste land. This research explores the issues of landfill restoration and reclamation in the consumer society of Taiwan today. By comparing case studies from Kao-Hsiung Metropolitan Park and abroad, this study analyzes the background and history behind multiple landscape reclamation projects, and promotes a new perspective towards waste landscape. Due to the degree of specialization in today's industries, modern landfill reclamation projects commonly involve representatives from landscape architecture, environmental engineering, ecology, and aesthetics. Thus, in addition to redefining our values, the key to the success of any wasteland reclamation involves the integration of the different specialties, appropriate development opportunities, and coordination of suitable plans.
