這篇論文展示了指甲顯示器(NailDisplay),一種穿載在指甲上提供隨時可得的顯示裝置。在指甲上顯示能帶來兩大好處,其一是能快速觀看,並能隨時隨地提供視覺回饋。其二,它緊密的將觸控與顯示結合在一起,所看即所觸。我們認為指甲顯示器適合與其它互動技術做互補,例如觸控式圖型化界面、實體互動界面與自然互動界面。為了更清楚展示指甲顯示所帶來的好處,我們提出了三種可能的應用,分別是(1) 在操作觸控裝置時,指甲能顯示被手指擋住內容,使其能解決 因為肥手指問題帶來的不便。(2) 指甲顯示器能輔助自然互動界面,幫助使用者學習使用。(3) 可以透過手勢單獨使用,例如在空中揮動手指與點擊做操作。例如當使用者觸控手臂時,指甲顯示器提示操作資訊,讓使用者不用過於依賴記憶。我們探討在指甲上顯示的人因因素,提出指甲顯示器的設計,並通過使用者測試來證明我們的概念。
In this paper, we present NailDisplay, an always-available nail-mounted display. NailDisplay augments a finger in two folds. First, it is fast to access, allowing for always-available visual feedbacks. Second, it essentially binds user controls (e.g., finger touch) with the display, i.e., what you control is what you see (through the display). To understand what benefits NailDisplay might bring about, we demonstrate five kinds of possible applications from displaying to combining it with user controls. (1) NailDisplay can be used to reveal what occluded under a finger touch, allowing it a solution to operate on small UI elements. (2) We demonstrate NailDisplay to be a complement to imaginary interface, that helps users to learn interface in imaginary, e.g. on the users’ arms, and allows them to reassure the interface when their memory about it becomes unclear. (3) We further combine NailDisplay with rich finger interactions, such as swiping in air. We also report users’ feedbacks from testing our prototype.
