做社區，也做階級：天母中產階級的地方營造與社區政治

本文探討都市中產階級的社區營造，如何以對地方的想像為基礎，透過不同論述及符號的運用產生不同類型的實作，並從中展現中產階級特質。以台北市天母為例，作者通過文本分析、參與式觀察和訪談，結合新聞與網路資料，獲得以下發現：首先，天母由於特殊的歷史背景，如日治時期的菁英觀光勝地、戰後的反共復國基地，以及中美協防時期的美式特權文化租界地。由國家力量高度集中的資源挹注，形成了封閉社會的特許。其次，聚焦於1980年代因社會風氣及城市結構改變，而逐漸興起的社區運動，幾個社區團體分別對於維持生活品質，與發展地區經濟展開不同的論述及行動，展現了中產階級社區營造的內部差異。第三，從做社區的論述及行動中，指出中產階級社區營造的階級意涵，也就是在「做社區」的同時，也是在「做階級」。這樣的階級意涵展現了進步與保守兼具的模糊特質，同時也有可能造成排除的侷限性。然而，中產階級群體仍是推動整體社會改革的主要動力，對公共領域的關注，具有舉足輕重的角色，但自身的階級位置仍會是推動社區運動的困境。

In this paper, what characteristics does the middle-class community shows and how they use different discourse and practice to create certain imagination towards place is discussed. Tianmu, Taipei City, is taken as an example. Through participatory observation and interviews as well as news and network data, the author concludes the following findings. First, due to the special colonized history of this area, the landscape of Tianmu was highly dictated by national force like Japanese government, the Nationalist government and the Military Assistance Advisory Group. Therefore, the quality of a closed society was formed in these periods of time. Second, since the atmosphere was gradually changed because of the democratization of Taiwan, there were many community groups poped out since 1980's. Different community groups holds different imagination toward the sense of place in Tianmu. Some of them strive to maintain the quality of life, but some of them would like to pursue the businesses boom in the area. They showed the divergence of community groups. Third, the discourse and practice of these groups sometimes caused delimitation from other residents. At the same time, their concern toward public area brought possibilities to a civil society.
