Research on key factors and performance assessment to launch collaboration

With the emerge of various kinds of business models and the indistinct boundaries among firms, the members on the whole supply chain take a shot at the possibility of cooperation , collaboration to pursue virtual enterprise for expanding economic territory, reaching the relatively competitive status. In the past, literate documents and research, most of them described on a basis of technology views how to launch collaboration, data exchange, and experience or know-how share instead of the direct or indirect factors and meanwhile what comes to be the criteria to measure the performance of collaboration. This research, on a frame of literate documents or papers and on a basis of firms with characters of short product life cycle and quick response to consumer demand, address under what circumstance would firms launch collaboration and what concludes the criteria to measure the collaboration performance. Besides, the discrepancy among manufacturing industry, the textile industry and electronics information industry will be compared and brought up as well. In the first part, five potential factors will be concluded from papers as follows, resource complementarity, culture compatibility, operation process compatibility, environmental variation, and transaction cost to develop questionnaire to proceed with factor analysis via statistics method. Second part, multiple comparison method will go on among 3 industries mentioned above according to factors that are extracted in last experiment to explore the discrepancy existed among them. The last part is to acquire performance criteria in a quantitative way via questionnaire done by firms. In addition, the importance degree of performance criteria will be ranked in sequence to supplement the insufficient evident that could not tell which is more important between both important. The experiment eventually draws up 9 factors that existed potentially among firms to launch collaboration as follows, resource complementarity, organization integrity, top professional management, information full disclosure, operation process compatibility, environment uncertainty, environmental variation, know-how control, and transaction cost. These factors vary in different industries. Performance criteria come to be 5 as follows, cost down, revenue increased, investment risk down, quick response, and quick launch to market to maintain long term collaboration.
