交換式及時乙太網路分析與控制

Analysis and Control of Real-Time Switched Ethernet

摘要


乙太網路是目前廣泛使用的一種區域網路技術,越來越多的工業廠房透過乙太網路來控制工廠中的設備,但是,相較於一般商業型的網路,連結工廠自動化設備的網路必須兼顧到可靠度與穩定性,而透過交換機來控制工廠自動化設備是一種可行的方法。大部分的交換機僅適用於商業型的網路,但是工廠與辦公室的環境大相逕庭,在工廠環境中更加強調資料傳輸的穩定性,市面上一般的交換機並不一定適用於工廠環境,因為工廠設備透過交換式乙太網路互相傳遞資料的即時性必須被考慮,而一般工廠設備每隔一段取樣週期會送出資料使工廠自動化流程得以運行。本篇論文的重點在於如何自動調整連結於交換機的工廠設備的取樣週期使整個工廠自動化趨於穩定。 本篇論文第一章介紹交換機的用途,以及過去關於交換機的相關研究,並且提出本篇論文的貢獻,最後則陳述整篇論文的架構。第二章首先簡介國際標準組織 (International Standard Organization) 所提出的OSI (Open System Interconnection) 參考模式,接著比較標準的乙太網路以及本篇論文所採用的交換式乙太網路之間的差異性。第三章介紹交換機的基本原理,包含交換機處理中心 (Switch Fabric) 的結構以及傳送封包的技術,交換機連接阜的排隊理論。第三章的最後一節則歸納出一表格作為總結。由於即時性的因素,第四章比較端點對端點在標準乙太網路的時間延遲,端點對端點在交換式乙太網路的時間延遲,以及交換式乙太網路應用於工業環境的時間延遲。第五章則提出AQM-like (Active Queue Management) 的方法來調整取樣週期,並且根據其數學式推導其非線性模型以及計算在平衡點時的取樣週期為何,最後則根據四種狀況來模擬並驗證是否符合在平衡點的取樣週期。第六章整理並提出結論,以及報告未來工作。 關鍵字:交換式乙太網路、AQM-like (Active Queue Management) 方法

Ethernet is an internationally standardized local area network technology. More and more factory equip with communication and control interfaces based on Ethernet. However, the equipments in factory automatic system must be more firm and solid than which are used in the commercial network. One popular network product is switch. Most switches using in office are designed for commercial networks. But factory environment is different from office environment. We can not make sure that switches for commercial network are also suitable for factory automation systems. Hence, we focus on the special requirements of the control-level within factory communication systems to transmit periodic real-time data via a switched Ethernet network. Traditional switch does not offer the capability to adjust the sampling period of each nodes connected to the switch port based on the network utilization. In the thesis, we provide an AQM-like (Active Queue Management) method to adjust the sampling period to conform the stable condition. This thesis includes six chapters including the Introduction chapter. The rest of the thesis is organized as follows: The contents of Chapter 2 are about the background of Ethernet. Chapter 3 discusses the basic architectures, queueing disciplines, and forwarding techniques of a switch. Chapter 4 describes timing analysis about Ethernet with hub and Ethernet with switch. Chapter 5 presents the performance evaluation results of switched Ethernet using AQM-like method. The thesis concludes in Chapter 6, summarizing the main contributions and indicating the future research directions. Keywords: switched Ethernet, AQM-like (Active Queue Management) method
