The main topic is “A Comparative Study on the National Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Cases of the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China.” This topic was chosen because at the time period, the world is currently experiencing a pandemic which has impacted many facets of daily living; from the employment sector to the education sector. The Coronavirus that caused Covid-19 first made an appearance in the year of 2019; it has already been over two years, and the world is still battling with it. Social Constructivism is applied and used as a method of analysis in this study. It creates a lens where one can understand that whether a government might be a democratic or authoritarian one, the decisions made by these governments have much to do with the culture and the type of society. Many governmental structures are built on what the society deems to be effective and beneficial to its lasting existence. The purpose for this study is to take a closer look at the ways that the USA and the PRC are dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. Understanding why they decided to implement certain strategies to combat the virus. Both the United States and also China’s culture has been integral in part of their decision-making processes. This is important as it sheds light that their political systems.
