正向心理學應用於國小學齡兒童英文教學之行動研究-以新新補習班為例

The Action Research of Applying Positive Psychology to English Lessons for Elementary-school-age children at Xin-xin Cram School

摘要


我國政府因應全球化趨勢下,教育部開始推廣國民外語學習,國民小學英文教學從九十年度起開始實施,將英文納入國民小學的基本學科中,國民小學學齡兒童必須在國小階段開始學習英文。國小學習英文目標有三點:培養學童基本英文溝通能力、培養學童學習英文的興趣與方法、增進學童對於本國與外國文化習俗了解與認識。然而,許多望子成龍的家長們為了讓他們的小孩更可以贏在起跑點之上,讓小孩在國小放學後到專門的英文補習班或是國小課後補習班所附設的英文課程中學習英文。 研究者為了探究正向心理學應用於補教業教學環境下的英文教學相關情形,以及改善教師者本身在教學場域中所面臨的問題。本研究希望透過正向心理學的理論來讓學童可以對英文產生學習動機,對英文產生興趣,提高學習成效,並且省思研究者在行動研究中工作情緒變化等相關情形。本研究方法主要採用「行動研究」的方法來進行。研究者以自己任職的工作場所-新新補習班英文班為研究場域,研究對象為國小一年級學童共四名學童,研究時間一週一次,每次四十五分鐘,總共有二次的行動研究階段,在這二次行動研究階段,依據研究者與研究參與者的課堂情形、教師省思日誌、課堂師生對話稿、教師課堂行為觀察表及錄影等資料,透過實施行動研究後,本研究結果發現研究者的確改善本身工作情緒,並且本研究參與者增加對英文的學習動機與學習成效。

The research in this study is to apply positive psychology to English lessons for elementary-school-age children with the action research. Due to globalization trends, the Ministry of Education wants to promote the national language learning programs in elementary schools. English has been included in the basic disciplines among elementary schools since 2001.Elementary-school-age children must begin to learn English in the first grade, this study wanted to look into improving skills in English by looking at three main areas of English programs. The first was basic English communication skills of children. The next area was how to cultivate children's interest in learning English. Finally, this study wanted a method for enhancing children's understanding of local and foreign cultural practices and knowledge. Many parents hope their children will achieve the first objective by letting their children learn English in English cram schools or other after-school programs. This research which applies positive psychology to English lessons for elementary-school-age children is hoped to increase children's motivation in learning English. Using the theory of positive psychology, it was possible to get children interested in English to improve learning outcomes. For the researcher, this can be seen through mood changes of teaching in the action research. In order to explore the combination of positive psychology teaching English in cram schools and to improve the existing phenomenon in the field of teaching for the researcher, the action research method was used to integrate learning and teaching children English using positive psychological. One aspect of this research is to improve the plight of the teacher in the Field of Practice. Another aspect is analyzing emerging research topics. For example, using positive psychology combined with English teaching techniques and the development of an effective and valuable method for teaching English. This study was done from this researcher's workplace, a Xin-xin cram school in Taipei, Taiwan a teaching field for action research. There were four children who study in the first grade at Xin-xin cram school. Using the application of positive psychology in action teaching children English, there were two courses of action for this study. We analyzed and compared the study between the researcher and research participants during the two courses of action research. The researcher recorded observations in the teacher-student dialogue table and the table of the classroom behavior then discussed this information with experts and collaborating researchers. The results of this study show that after the researcher improves her morale, the study participants not only enhance positive emotional responses, but they also show improvement on learning English.
