The Venezuelan economy has undergone a transformation in recent years and those venezuelan live in a lower quality of life. In 2019, Juan Guaidó, leader of the National Assembly, declared himself the interim president of Venezuela. Since then, the country has been caught in a seesawing conflict between two presidents. The United States and several countries in Latin America and Europe have recognized Guaidó as the rightful leader. In contrsat, Maduro has stated that his regime is legitimate because of the election process. As a result, the legitimacy of Maduro Regime should be treated. Political legitimacy has been studied by many scholars and politicians for a long time. However, it doesn't have a widely accepted and unique definition until 2019. This thesis will try to examine the political legitimacy of Maduro's regime, mainly based on the three elements of legitimacy﹕“consent”, “Norms” and “Law” which proposed by Jean- Marc Coicaud.
