淡江大學國際學生學習支援之需求評估

摘要

本研究之研究目的為「探討淡江大學國際學生對於學校提供之學習支援需求」，以做為淡江大學關照國際學生提供協助作為的參考。
本研究參與者為淡江大學6位國際學生，透過深度訪談與文件分析蒐集國際學生在淡江大學就學所需之「學業學習」、「生活學習」、「心理學習」與「職業學習」學習支援需求。
本研究之研究結果如下：
一、國際學生學業學習適應的學習支援需求包含：完成學籍認可、
提供課程資訊、課業學習技能、學生權益與專業進修等方面之
協助。
二、國際學生心理學習適應的學習支援需求包含：對於國際學生的
關懷以及產生適應問題後的個人諮商輔導等方面的協助。
三、國際學生生活學習適應的學習支援需求包含：生活型態調適、
文化差異調適、社會交際擴展、健康安全維護、基本日常生活
滿足、經濟需求、合法居留以及歸國調適等方面之協助。
四、國際學生職業學習適應的學習支援需求包含：短期居住者之校
內工讀機會的資訊提供與相關法律知識，以及而長期居住者之
就業輔導等方面之協助。
本研究對於個案大學支援國際學生學習之具體建議如下：
一、在學習支援內涵方面
提供國際學生就學前的支援，包含學籍認可的協助、提供課程資訊之協助、生活型態調適之協助、文化差異調適之協助與合法居留的協助；就學中的支援，包含課業學習技能之協助、學生權益的協助、心理健康的協助、社會交際擴展的協助、健康安全維護之協助、日常生活需求協助、經濟需求的協助與工讀經驗學習之協助；以及就學後的支援，包含專業進修的協助、合法居留的協助、歸國調適之協助與就業輔導的協助。
二、在學習支援管道方面
入學通知應使用國際學生能理解之語言與詞彙，並提供關於註冊以及選課之詳盡資訊；學校網頁入口對象之設計應針對國際學生之特殊身份加以選擇統整相關之處室資訊；國際學生手冊之設計可重新思考以就學前、就學中與就學後之相關階段提供必要的資訊並且以國際學生能理解之寫作方式，同時推廣校內相關單位所提供之學習支援服務內涵及途徑，以滿足國際學生之需求。
三、在學習支援組織方面
「國際交流暨國際教育處」要與其他校內行政單位密切配合或加強橫向聯繫，諸如教務處、學生事務處或學習與教學中心等，方能同步更新其資料庫與相關資源，即時滿足國際學生各項需求。
本研究對於國際學生提供以下的建議：
一、主動提供個人資料更新資料庫
二、積極拓展社會關係與尋求協助
三、加強英文及中文語言能力
本研究提供未來研究建議如下：
一、擴大研究範圍與加長研究時程，以全國大學校院國際學生之學
習支援需求進行探討，將可更全面了解國際學生之需求。
二、在研究主題上可探討國際學生與本地學生或師長之互動情形，
或是大學校院設立專責單位之政策與作為等，以廣泛了解大學
校院國際學生的相關議題。

The purpose of this research is to investigate the needs for learning support of international students in Tamkang University (TKU). The participants of the research are six international students. The study applied in-depth interview and archive analysis to collect international students’ needs for learning support which included assistances for their adjustment in the areas of academic success, living management, mental health and career development.
The research results are shown below:
1. The needs for assistance in academic success included the recognition of student status, the availability of course informatio, development of academic learning capability, rights and interests of students, and advanced study in professional fields.
2. The needs for assistance in metal health included the care and consultation while encountering adjustment problems.
3. The needs for assistance in living management included the adaptation of living environment and cultural differences, development of social relations, maintenance of health and security, supplies of daily living and financial sufficience, residential legitimacy and adaptation of returing to home country.
4. The needs for assistance in career development included the information of part-time job for short-time residents and related law and rules on job seeking for foreign worker..

This research provided following suggestions for Tamkang University in supporting international students’ learning:
1. As to the support services: International students’ learning support should consist of academic success, living management, mental health and career development at three stages: before entering, during study process and after study.
2. As to the support deliveries: TKU should provide web-site, student’s manual and related documents with detailed information written by understandable languages and vocabulary for international students.
3. As to the support administration: “International Exchange and International Education Department”should organize better cross-sectional collaboration in order to provide up-dated information and assistance at campus.

The research also provided suggestions for international students in the following aspects: actively provide up-dated information to the university, actively expand personal social network and seek for necessary information, and increase personal language ability in both English and Chinese.

The future research can be conducted in terms of expansion of research scope and other related issues on international students.
