With the advance of medical technology, the life expectancy in Taiwan is 80.7 years old. Based on the problems of aging population, long-term care becomes an indispensable social issue. We want to understand which factors will affect the length of operation of long-term care institutions. We did descriptive statistics for the data, and used the extended Cox model to investigate the relationships between risk factors and survival time of long-term care institutions. The results show that the head of the institution with nursing background, the institutional attributions (independent, chain, branch), the occuoancy rate of the institution, the shortest time from the institution to a hospital, and the service size of the institutions are important factors that affect the survival time of the long-term care institutions.
